About moving to Philly / Philadelphia, one familiar with the art, hiphop or neosoul scene?

I moved to Philly from DC in about a month to go to The Art Institute. I'm really big on the network and love meeting new people. I really want to find a crowd so cold i touch the bottom. I am looking for, down town ground, a crowd of artsy, hip-hop (or even a new type of-life crowd) How big is the hiphop / art scene over there? there are suggestions from certain areas, clubs, lounges, events?

Well for one I was on a visit to an Art Museum there and I remember the "scribbly-like" art in there and I was told to write about whether I considered this art, and I remember the place that I did not and that the real art requires effort, lol:.
